Iran wins world taekwondo poomse runner-up title

TEHRAN – Iran stood second at the world taekwondo poomse competitions in the South Korean capital Seoul Wednesday.

The Iranian team finished runner-up to the host country, winning four silvers and three bronzes.

Korea lifted the trophy with seven golds and Turkey took the third title with three silver and two bronze medals.

Fifty-five countries competed in the event.

Taekwondo poomse (pattern) is essentially a routine with a theme. It is a combination of techniques of block and attack performed consecutively while moving in certain directions.
